Even as Jordin Sparks, the 17-year-old girl, got crowned American Idol winner, the fuss over Sanjaya Malakar continued. And they're not alone. I don't get it either, unless it's jealousy. Sanjaya is a terrific young man and a wonderful entertainer with a lovely, melodious voice. But I have often noticed that the gentle, sweet and seemingly most vulnerable bring out the viciousness in some people.
Mitali Saturday, May 26, 2007Why do writers in Indian journals join in and cheerfully amplify the third rate, philistine and nonsensical efforts to diss this boy? he is a terrific singer and entertainer, and all the leading players in the American entertainment industry can see it and are acting on it. Who cares about some newspaper that published a hate remark about the producers of AI showing him up "to the point of nausea"? It amazes me how easily Desis join the ranks of racial hatred mongers and promote hatred of another Desi!
