Tiger Woods Monday won his 14th major after beating Rocco Mediate on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off.

The 32-year-old was lying one shot behind Mediate at the 18th, but birdied to finish on 71 for the 71-par Torrey Pines course, while Mediate finished the hole on par five.

The players then had to play the sudden-death play-off, which Woods won at the first hole.
