At least nine students have been killed and 15 injured when the bus in which they were travelling overturned in northern Chile.

The accident occurred at 2.50 p.m. Friday, some 900 km north of Santiago. There were 32 people on board the bus.

Nine girl students from the Cumbres de las Condes High School have died in the accident, the police said.

The bus was travelling from the Chilean border city of Arica to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia.

The injured were rushed to a hospital.
