Three US Navy personnel have been killed and two others were missing after the helicopter in which they were travelling plunged into the waters off the coast of San Diego in California, officials said Wednesday.

The rescue officials are still searching the area for the two missing crew following the accident Tuesday night, US Navy spokeswoman Karin Burzynski told reporters.

The aircraft was conducting training exercises 33 km off the coast at the time of the crash.
