Tiger Woods' mother-in-law released from hospital

From correspondents in Washington, United States, 02:00 PM IST

A woman identified as the mother-in-law of scandal-ridden golfer Tiger Woods was released from hospital after being rushed there from his home, US media reports said.

NBC News reported that Barbro Holmberg Tuesday called emergency responders after coming down with stomach pains.

It quoted a spokesman for Florida's Health Central hospital as saying that the ailment was not serious and that Holmber was in stable condition. The hospital later announced that she had been released and returned to the home of the world's top golfer.

Holmberg is in Florida to be with her daughter Elin Nordegren, whose marriage to Woods has been rocked by allegations of her husband's alleged serial infidelities with as many as 10 women including various waitresses, nightclub hostesses and a porn star.

Woods has been the focus of tabloid inquiry since he crashed his car outside his house in the early hours of Nov 27 amid reports of a massive fight between him and his wife.

A statement later issued by the star golfer, in which he apologized for undisclosed 'transgressions' and letting his family down, has fuelled speculation of marital infidelity.
