A tiny kite full of precious stones

From correspondents in Rajasthan, India, 08:32 AM IST

Would you like to see a tiny 2.6 inch kite made of gold soar high in the sky? If yes, come to Jaipur.

The festival of Makar Sankranti, which falls Jan 14, is also celebrated as a kite flying festival in Jaipur.

Kite enthusiast Askok Vaishnav, convenor of Jaipur Kite Club, took more than a month for taking artistic assistance from four people to design the kite. The 25-gram miniature kite involves a fine combination of artworks in diamonds, pearl, ruby and coral.

Vaishnav has attributed his work to Hindu gods Shiva and Parvati.

The kite shows Shiva flying a kite from the roof of Hawa Mahal, a well-known city monument, with Parvati holding a 'charkhi' (thread reel).

'I don't want to sell this kite. This is a priceless possession for our club,' said Vaishnav.
