A woman in court who wrote a card to a Singapore judge addressing him as 'dearest' and admiring his 'cuteness and sweetness' was sent to a mental institution for three weeks, news reports said Wednesday.
Wong Nguek Chin, 45, had been accused of stomping on the roof of a re-possessor's car. She could be jailed for up to two years for causing mischief, but the court postponed its decision Tuesday pending a psychiatric report.
Wong, who is bankrupt, told the court that 'a force' lifted her onto the car, The Straits Times reported. She was caught on video on Oct 21, 2003, jumping up and down on the roof of See Song Chang's Honda Civic.
In a card to District Judge Eddy Tham, she called him 'dearest ET' and described herself as his 'special friend.' 'I enjoy your entertainment and drama and cuteness and sweetness and love,' the newspaper quoted the card as saying.
Tham said her bizarre testimony raised doubts as to whether she was of sound mind. Wong told the judge she takes 'a lot of drugs.'
Tham sent her to the Institute of Mental Health. She was scheduled to return to court on March 20.
