Jeev misses midway cut at Sun Chlorella

From correspondents in Asia Pacific, 09:16 PM IST

Jeev Milkha Singh missed the midway cut with a five-over 77 in the second round of the Sun Chorella Classic golf Friday. Winner of the Sega Sammy Cup last week, Jeev was eight-over 152 for two days, while the cut came at six-over 150.

Jeev struggled through the day as the conditions were hostile. There were two just birdies, on the sixth and the 13th, while he had three other bogeys and two double bogeys on the eighth and the 16th.

Tetsuya Haraguchi shot his second straight 1-under 71 and Takuya Taniguchi had a 72 to share the lead at the midway.

Haraguchi, a winless 34-year-old, mixed six birdies with five bogeys to move to 2-under 142 on a day when breeze and hard greens prevented players from shooting low at Otaru Country Club in Hokkaido.

Taniguchi, 28, who won his only career title on the JGTO tour at the 2004 Aiful Cup, carded three birdies and three bogeys.

One stroke behind the co-leaders are Taiwan's Yeh Wei-tze, Lee Dong Hwan of South Korea and Hideto Tanihara, who had rounds of 69, 70 and 73, respectively. Tatsunori Nukaga (70), Katsumasa Miyamoto (74) and Akio Sadakata (75) tied for sixth another shot back.

Overnight leader Yui Ueda shot a disastrous 81 to drop into a tie for 17th at 3-over 147.
