From correspondents in Asia Pacific, 04:02 PM IST

One person was killed and two people were reported missing in a powerful explosion at a petrochemical plant in northeast China's Liaoning province early Sunday morning.

The body of a woman worker identified as Wang Guiyan was recovered by rescuers, city authorities said, adding that two workers on duty at the time of the blast could not be traced.

Fire tenders with 30 engines fought for more than two hours to tame the blaze.
