Australian cricket officials are planning a promotional Twenty20 match to brighten up an uninspiring summer of cricket.

With the first Test against the West Indies in Brisbane starting Nov 26 in the programme released Wednesday, officials are trying to organise a Twenty20 clash Nov 22 to generate interest in the series.

Last year, former Test greats Adam Gilchrist and Justin Langer combined with current stars such as Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden in an All Stars game at the Gabba that launched the international season.

Cricket Australia (CA) organised the clash after criticism of its lack of promotion of the previous international summer.

CA spokesman Peter Young confirmed plans were being made to stage a similar match next summer after Australia's one-day players return from a series in India.

'We are in advanced discussions with a range of parties, including some high-profile cricketers,' Young was quoted as saying in the Australian media Thursday.

'About 1.5 million people tuned in to watch the All Stars game on television last year and it sent a strong signal that the international cricket summer was about to start.'
