From correspondents in Delhi, India, 11:30 PM IST

Renowned Australian filmmaker Rolf de Heer heads the jury at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa that was officially inaugurated Thursday.

A retrospective of the filmmaker's award-winning films will also be screened at the festival during Nov 24-Dec 3, said a statement from the Australian High Commission, here.

Heer's work to be screened at the festival includes box office hits like 'Ten Canoes', winner of the Special Jury Prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and 'The Tracker', among others.

'Australia's participation in Indian festivals is a part of the AusArts India programme in India supported by the Australian government. It highlights the enduring strength of the Australia-India cultural relationship,' Australian High Commissioner to India John McCarthy said.

Heer's works as well as other Australian films have been part of a recent film festival in Kolkata too and they will also be screened at the upcoming festivals in Chennai (Dec 17-25) and Mumbai (Jan 14-28), the statement added.
