Karunanidhi hails grandson's talent, releases movie music

From correspondents in Tamil Nadu, India, 09:01 PM IST

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Saturday praised the singing talent of his grandson during the audio release of forthcoming Tamil film 'Perumal'.

'It is a matter of special significance to my grandson Arivunidhi as it marks the start of his singing career in films,' said Karunanidhi, himself the author of many Tamil movie scripts.

Son of the chief ministers's eldest son M.K. Muthu, M. Arivunidhi, a doctor by profession, had sung a Tamil devotional album in 2005 whose numbers had attracted the attention of Sreekanth Deva, the music director of 'Perumal', publicists said.

The song is a remix of an earlier Tamil hit number sung for K. Bhagyaraj film 'Suvar Illatha Sithirangal' (1979), a communique added.

Bhagyaraj received the first copy of the CD from Karunanidhi at the launch function.

Directed by Vincent Selva, 'Perumal' stars Sundar C. and Namitha.
