Spot billing for Jaipur electricity users

From correspondents in Rajasthan, India, 10:30 AM IST

The Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (JVVNL), the city's electricity distribution utility, plans a new spot billing scheme from January.

Under the scheme, customers would be handed their electricity bills at the time of meter reading through a manual machine. JVVNL has entered a pact with a Jaipur-based private company for this purpose.

The private firm would hand over the bill to the consumer at the time of meter reading. The bill will also be issued every month instead of the current practice of once in two months.

'The draft of the scheme is ready and we will soon release the work order. This will reduce customer complaints regarding bills,' R.G. Gupta, the managing director of JVVNL, told IANS. JVVNL has some 500,000 customers.
