Honda's Production Crosses 2 Lakh Units in December'06

Honda Siel Cars India, leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, achieved a major milestone in December 2006 by producing more than 200,000 units since its inception. The company registered a growth of 45.13% in the total cumulative sales for the period April – Dec 2006, as compared with corresponding period in 2005.

HSCI achieved cumulative sales of 43,299 units during the period as compared with 29,834 units sold during April – Dec 2005.

Honda’s most successful global model, the eighth generation Civic was launched in July 2006 and has already become segment leader within a short span of time. The Honda City ZX, the largest selling sedan in India, is today recognized as one of the most successful car brands in India.

Within six months of its launch in July 06, Honda Civic has crossed the 10,000 units mark. Also, the all new third generation Honda CR-V, launched in late November 2006, has made more than 500 bookings.Model wise break-up for Apr-Dec’06: City: 29,527; Civic: 10,813; Accord: 1,714; CRV: 1,245.

The company sold 4,105 units in December 2006 as against 4,111 units in the corresponding month last year.

Honda Siel Cars’ state-of-the-art manufacturing unit was set up in 1997 at Greater Noida, U.P. and currently has a capacity of 50,000 cars annually. The company is planning to raise its capacity to 100,000 cars per annum by the end of 2007.
