Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd Monday launched its 125-cc scooter, Access, here Monday. Access marks the foray of the company, a subsidiary of the Suzuki Motor Corp of Japan, into the scooter market in India.
'Access will cater to the needs of an urban Indian family in small, medium and large cities in the country,' said Satya Sheel, managing director of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd (SMPL), at the launch. The price of the scooter is yet to be decided.
'We would launch the scooter across the country and then decide on pricing. We will be able to fix the price tag by the second week of October,' said Sheel.
Access is powered by a 125-cc air-cooled four-stroke engine with automatic transmission. The scooter has been integrated with Suzuki's Xtra Torque Performance technology and has a central locking system with a unique shutter mechanism from a single control point to avoid theft.
SMPL joint managing director Katsumi Takata said the scooter would meet customers' desire for additional value. 'We have utilised the best available technology to develop Access. We are confident that it will replicate the success story of all other Suzuki products that are today the benchmarks in quality, design and utility across the globe,' said Takata.
Access is the third product from the Suzuki stable in India after Heat and Zeus motorcycles.
Sheel said that Suzuki plans to sell 5,000 units of Access per month.

In the whole history of India's scooter industry, nothing ever really happened hat is fit to be called spectaclar or exciting (by way of long-lasting and trouble-free products)though new entrants in this field apparently to make the competition stiffer. One major Bajaj manufacturer in discussions with industry consultants had the audacity to say that it systematically reduced the quality of spares as well as the whole product's durability, so that replacement demand would fetch more business to itself!. Only people like Suzuki can do exciting things for the customers, such as launching of the 125-cc scooter 'Access', which will no doubt be free from substandard components, and offering long life and high fuel efficiency. Unfortunately we Indians lack any genuine R&D spirit which is required for scientific marketing with world-class spirits, since crass commercial spirit has dominated product manufacturers leading to mulcting of customers in various deceitful ways, and using high pressure adverising and publicity. when will our mentality change so that we can legitimately favour our Desi products with justified nationalistic spirit ?

At Hyderabad, They say that we have to pay 3K to book & wait for 30 to 45 days for delivery. When I ask them why more than a month, they say that for Honda Activa waiting period is 40 days. Is Suzuki competing on Technical Superiority with Honda or on waiting period? With this attitude, customers are better off buying Activa as it has already proved that Maintenance is almost NIL. The showroom personnel "sussu ki" on customer's Access plans!

I dont think Suzuki will get a break by introducing 125 CC sccoter.. Because, so far they are not displyed the image of sccooter for public.
