German company SMS MEER, manufacturer and supplier of long product rolling mill equipments, Monday launched their wholly owned Indian subsidiary here.

Joachim Schonbeck, president of SMS MEER, said: 'SMS MEER plans India as its most important business destination, looking forward to the ongoing boom in the Indian metal industries.'

Bimal Kumar Sarkar, managing director of SMS MEER-India, said: 'This German company has chosen Kolkata as its the destination to remain close to the customers.'

Indian companies like Jindal Saw Ltd, ISMT Ltd, IISCO and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd are some of the company's top customers.
