Two BSE directors step down

From correspondents in Maharashtra, India, 07:31 PM IST

Shekhar Datta, a non-executive director on the board of the Bombay Stock Exchange, and Jamshyd N. Godrej, a shareholder director, have resigned from their posts, the BSE said Thursday.

The stock exchange announced the resignations in a press statement late Thursday. When contacted, Kalyan Bose, corporate head of the BSE, refused to give any details.

Datta was inducted into the board in 2006 and became chairman when Jagdish Capoor quit the post last September.

He was former managing director and president of Greaves Cotton Ltd. He is also currently a director on the board of the Bharat Heavy Electricals.

Godrej is chairman and managing director of Godrej and Boyce.
