Market trading flat in early trade

The Indian equities market, which opened with a loss Monday, was trading flat in early trade.

The 30-share benchmark sensitive index of Bombay Stock Exchange opened with a loss of nearly 12 points at 13,791.02 points. Fifteen minutes into the trade, the sensex was trading at 13,762.85 with a loss of 39.37 points or 0.29 percent.

At the same time, the S and amp;P Nifty of National Stock Exchange was trading at 4,138.90 points with a gain of 2.15 points or 0.05 percent compared to its last close.

The market breadth was negative. On BSE, 759 shares advanced compared to 896 that declined and 47 that remained unchanged.

Satyam Computers, Tata Steel, and Jaiprakash Associates were among the top gainers while Tata Motors, HDFC and ICICI bank figured among the top losers in the initial trade.

Asian markets were trading lower.
