Government, striking truckers hold talks

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 08:32 PM IST

The government Thursday evening held another round of talks with a transporters' association to end their two-day old strike.

'The government has invited us for talks. Our representatives are meeting the officials of the transport ministry,' said Charan Singh Lohara, president of the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), an apex body of truck owners.

The truck owners have been protesting rising taxes and the fuel price hike.
