Hindalco Industries Ltd, part of the Aditya Birla Group, has announced a net profit of Rs.6.96 billion ($165.7 million) during the first quarter of 2008-09 compared to Rs.5.98 billion over the corresponding period last year.

The company's total revenue decreased to Rs.46.48 billion during the first quarter from Rs.46.85 billion of the year-ago period.
