Realty major Unitech's profit after tax has gone down to Rs.3.01 billion for the first quarter this fiscal, compared to Rs.3.48 billion in the corresponding period last year, the company announced Wednesday.

In a regulatory statement, Unitech said its total income has decreased from Rs.7.88 billion for the first quarter last year to Rs.7.74 billion in the same period in 2008.

The group posted a consolidated net profit of Rs.4.23 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2008 as compared to Rs.3.66 billion for the same period last year.

Total income increased from Rs.8.99 billion to Rs.10.54 billion for the periods under review.
