Tatas to set up fisheries institute near Chennai

The Tata Group Tuesday tied up with the Tamil Nadu government to set up a fisheries institute near Chennai.

The state government has allotted 1.16 acres land at Muttukadu near Chennai free of cost for The Fisheries Institute of Technology and Training. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Tata Group and the state government.

The Tata Group with the assistance of domestic and foreign experts will prepare the blue print for efficient fishing technique, storage of the catch, farming of marine fishes, manufacture of fish food and other activities.
