Well closed after fire at ONGC rig, five injured

Five crew members were injured when a fire broke out at a rig of Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) at Mumbai High, a company release said Saturday.

The fire broke out on the rig Pride Pennsylvania, contracted by ONGC, at 1.50 p.m. Saturday at the Mumbai High south field. The drilling operations were suspended and the well has been closed.

The company said the five injured workers had been taken to the Juhu helibase. The fire was later extinguished.

The company said the other 82 workers on the site were safe.
