Indian markets open negative, take cues from global bourses

Indian equities markets opened on a negative note Tuesday as global bourses continued to trade weak. Within about five minutes of trade, a key index was down 208 points.

The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened lower at 14,788.27 points was ruling at 14,667.16 points, 208.36 points or 1.4 percent below Monday's close.

The S and amp;P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped, moving down 1.16 percent to rule at 4,432.15 points around the same time.

Broader market indices were also ruling in the red, with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.42 percent lower and the BSE smallcap index moving down 1.55 percent.
