A key index of Indian equities markets, which opened lower Monday, was trading 86 points down in the afternoon, compared to its previous close.

At 1.55 p.m., the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,185.26 points, was 85.78 points or 0.53 percent lower at 16,178.52 points.

Around the same time, the S and amp;P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was in the negative terrain at 4,802.15 points, down 0.57 percent.

Broader market indices were showing mixed results, with the BSE midcap index trading 0.01 percent lower, while the BSE smallcap index was 0.33 percent higher.
