Sugar maker Balrampur Chini Mills has posted a net profit of Rs.42.73 crore for the quarter ended Sep 30, as compared to Rs.14.58 crore earned in the year-ago period.

'Total income has decreased from Rs.4,170.6 million (Rs.417 crore) for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 to Rs.3,807.2 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009,' the company said in a regulatory statement Wednesday.

For the year ended Sep 30, 2009, its net profit rose to Rs.226.5 crore, as compared to Rs.97 crore logged in the previous corresponding period, the statement said.

Balrampur Chini's total income similarly increased to Rs.1,706.27 crore from Rs.1,477.67 crore posted in the year ended Sep 30, 2008.
