AMU to translate Sir Syed's biography into five languages

From correspondents in Uttar Pradesh, India, 09:48 AM IST

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will translate the biography of its founder, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, into five more Indian languages, a varsity official said.

'The biography that will cover various shades of Khan's life will be translated into Oriya, Marathi, Kashmiri, Bengali and Punjabi,' Rahat Abrar, an AMU spokesperson, told IANS on phone from Aligarh.

He said the biography was being popularised to publicise Khan's contribution to education and politics. The translation would be completed by October.

At present, Khan's biography is available in seven languages - Hindi, Urdu, English, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Arabic.
