AMU makes Rs.110 bn plan to raise academic standards

The Aligarh Muslim University has submitted a plan of over Rs.110 billion to the University Grants Commission for raising the academic standards of the varsity, an official said.

'Taking into account the future demands of the varsity, the plan was prepared and handed over to the UGC team, which is on its three-day visit here,' AMU spokesperson Rahat Abrar told IANS Tuesday.

The grant has been sought from UGC for offering new courses, creating additional faculty positions, setting up modern laboratories, libraries and upgrading the educational infrastructure of the university, he added.

As many as 168 new courses are expected to be introduced by AMU in the coming academic sessions, an official said.
