Former US vice president Al Gore said people must be given a chance to put their own views across to the world through television.
He believes a more 'democratised' TV is needed to 'give people a voice', reports contactmusic.com. He was speaking at the launch of a new TV channel in Britain that will be created by and for 18-to-34-year olds.
He said: 'It's part of an effort to democratise the television medium and to give individuals a chance to put their own perspectives on television; that's really what it's all about - viewer created content.
'It's designed to give individuals a voice. People make television about what's going on in their lives, in their own voices. We want to give a chance to join the global conversation.'
