'In Rainbows' gets Radiohead most profits

From correspondents in London, England, 01:01 PM IST

Rock band Radiohead's lead singer Thom Yorke said the group has earned more from digital sales of its album 'In Rainbows' than all previous albums put together.

Radiohead released the album 'In Rainbows' to be downloaded online with the price being the choice of the downloader. Yorke said the experiment was a huge success and raked in a lot of money, reports ananova.com.

He said: 'It's partly due to the fact that EMI wasn't giving us any money for digital sales. All the contracts in a certain era have none of that stuff.'

Yorke added that the plan was not meant as an attack on the music industry.

'It wasn't nihilistic, it was the total opposite. And people took it as it was meant. The only reason we could even get away with this, the only reason anyone even gives a s***, is the fact that we've gone through the whole mill of the business in the first place,' he said.
