Troubled British pop star Lily Allen has sparked rumours that she might be dating Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman's son.

Contactmusic.com reports that Allen recently split from Chemical Brothers member Ed Simons and she was spotted with aspiring director Max Hoffman during the Cannes Film Festival.

A source said: 'Max and Lily were at this VIP bash and she started chatting him up. He thought she was a lovely, cute girl, but didn't have a clue who she was. They sneaked off and had some private time together but I don't think it went as far as either of them wanted it to.

'Max was gutted she was leaving for London the next day. They swapped numbers and have been in constant touch ever since.'
