Italy, US presidents discuss terrorism, Middle East

From correspondents in Latium, Italy, 11:00 PM IST

Visiting US President George W. Bush met with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano Thursday to discuss various issues, including terrorism and Middle East peace process, a media report said.

The two leaders reviewed the world economic situation and discussed the recent food summit in Rome and fight against organised crimes, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

This was the third time the two presidents met since 2007. Bush will also meet Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi later Thursday.

The US president arrived in Rome late Wednesday as part of his farewell trip to Europe that will also take him to Paris and London.

Bush visited Berlin after attending the annual US-EU summit in Slovenia Tuesday.
