The European Commission (EC), the executive agency of the European Union, Thursday mourned the death of Malcolm Subhan, a renowned journalist and expert on EU-India relations.
'We were very sad to learn that Mr. Malcolm Subhan passed away Aug 21. Most of you in this pressroom have known him for a long time as the editor of EuAsiaNews and correspondent of the Financial Express of India,' chief EC spokesman Johannes Laitenberger told reporters here.
'I would like to say on behalf of the spokespersons' service that we would like to express condolences on his passing away. We too are saddened by his passing away. We will hold his memory in esteem,' Leitenberger was quoted by EuAsiaNews as saying.
He added that the International Press Association in Brussels, on whose board Subhan served for many years, was also saddened by his passing away.
Subhan passed away at his home in Tervuren, near Brussels, at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer.
