Indian squash star Saurav Ghosal claimed the biggest title of his career when he won the Ornano International Open trophy after beating third seed Italian Davide Bianchetti in the final of the inaugural $15,000 PSA Tour event here.
Ghosal won 11-6, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 to secure the fourth - and biggest - PSA Tour title of his career Saturday.
It was the Kolkata-born 22-year-old's third successive upset win in the event. The sixth seed made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals when he toppled top seed and local favourite Renan Lavigne in four games.
In the semi-finals, Ghosal overcame fifth seed Egyptian Amr Swelim in five games.
Celebrating his sixth appearance in a PSA Tour final, the four -time Indian national champion faced third seed Bianchetti, the world No 30 and a veteran of 18 final appearances.
The pair last met in June 2006, but this time Ghosal was better prepared for his more experienced opponent.
'Saurav is playing his first year of full time squash after graduation and we are sure to see him improve his world rank rapidly,' said national coach Cyrus Poncha.
