India's chances of making it to the Davis Cup World Group received a rude jolt Friday when their biggest singles hope, Somdev Devvarman, went down 3-6, 1-6, 0-6 to Romania's Victor Hanescu in the second singles of the play-off at the Bucuresti Stadium here.

Prakash Amritraj lost the first singles 5-7, 7-5, 2-6, 2-6 against Victor Crivoi. India now trail 0-2.
