Anti-Scientology group protests at Katie Holmes' show

From correspondents in London, England, 06:30 AM IST

An anti-scientology group held protests at Katie Holmes' Broadway debut and said the actress had been duped into joining the religious cult.

Demonstrators from the group Anonymous turned up at her Broadway debut "All My Sons" Thursday night to warn theatre-goers including Katie's husband Tom Cruise and warn them about the evils of the sect, reports thesun.co.uk.

They donned masks at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York and shouted: "We are not boycotting Katie, we are not boycotting the play, we are protesting Scientology. It is evil. Scientology kills people. It follows you home at night. It is perverted."

They also waved banners saying: 'Free Katie, Keep Tom.'

Other celebrity scientologists include John Travolta, Lisa Marie Presley, Kirstie Alley and singer Beck, who was also targeted by the group.

One flag read: 'Run, Katie, Run! (And take Beck with you).'
