Hollywood star and mother of six Angelina Jolie has admitted taking her seven-year-old son Maddox shopping for knives.

The actress revealed the controversial choice of presents during an interview to the American fashion magazine W, reports dailymail.co.uk.

'We take him to a special shop. We also talk about samurais and the idea about defending someone as good. We talk about everything,' she said.

She added that 'it is something of a family tradition' as her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, had taken her shopping for a knife when she was just 11.

The 32-year-old confesses she has since held a fascination for weapons.

Jolie adopted her first child Maddox in 2002, then only seven months old, from an orphanage in Cambodia.
