Manchester City and Wales striker Craig Bellamy is being investigated by police after an incident with a fan who ran onto the pitch at the end of Sunday's contentious derby clash with Manchester United.

City were beaten 4-3 by United thanks to Michael Owen's goal in the sixth minute of injury time after the referee had signalled that four minutes of injury time should be played.

Greater Manchester Police said it had launched an inquiry but also added that no one had made a formal complaint.

Bellamy scored two goals for City in the match, including a third equalising goal in the 90th minute.
