'The Lord of the Rings' voted best film of decade

From correspondents in London, England, 12:02 AM IST

The 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy has been voted as the best movie of the past decade in a magazine poll.

Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic beat 'Brokeback Mountain', 'Gladiator' and 'The Dark Knight' to top Entertainment Weekly's end-of-the-decade film hit list, reports express.co.uk.

Rapper Kanye West's 2004 debut 'The college dropout' landed at the number one best album ahead of Jay-Zs 'The Blueprint' and Radiohead's 'Kid A'.

On TV, 'The Sopranos' beat 'Lost' and comedy news show 'The Daily Show' to claim the best TV show honour.

However, stealing the pie was boy wizard Harry Potter who topped all in the publication's overall poll. The literary character landed at number one on the Best of the Decade list, which counts down the 100 greatest songs, albums, films, TV shows and episodes, characters, trends, books and stars in the past 10 years.
