Singing legend Barbra Streisand has been sued by a carpenter over allegations of negligence after he fell into a ditch while working at her California home.

Woodworker Daniel Ortiz was hired to help renovate the 'Funny Girl' star's property in Malibu in 2007. But while working on a trailer he fell straight into a ditch.

The carpenter claims Streisand and the contractors are guilty of negligence as they failed to make him aware of the hole in the ground, reported contactmusic.com.

The suit, filed Dec 2 at Los Angeles Superior Court, states that the star 'failed to take steps to either make the dangerous condition safe or warn' Ortiz of the ditch.

Ortiz also alleges the incident has caused him 'humiliation, fear, discomfort, anxiety, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish, and emotional and physical distress'.

He is seeking undisclosed damages.
