Konkan Railway brings cheer to cancer-stricken children

From correspondents in Maharashtra, India, 06:01 PM IST

Seventy cancer-affected children, undergoing treatment at the Tata Memorial Centre here, will be taken on train journey through the picturesque Konkan region by the railways.

'A train journey always delights children. But with picturesque Konkan route with tunnels and forests, the enjoyment will be double. We will be providing them three-tier air-conditioned tickets for the train journey,' said the spokesperson of the Konkan Railways.

The Konkan Railway will also be extending on-board hospitality to the children in the train. While in Goa, the children will be taken to famous tourist spots and various beaches, the spokesperson said.

The team will leave from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in south Mumbai Friday night by Konkankanya Express and will return from Madgaon Monday.
