Check food adulteration in your kitchen

From correspondents in Gujarat, India, 02:30 AM IST

People in Gujarat will be able to check food adulteration right in their home thanks to a special testing kit developed by the state government.

The kit can be easily used by housewives on their kitchen platforms, Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said while demonstrating it to mediapersons here Wednesday.

Adulteration in milk, edible oils, ghee, iodized salt, sweets, sherbet, silver foil on sweets and colour mixing in spices can be detected easily with the kit, which would come with a user's manual, he said.

Initially the government has prepared 1,200 kits which would be given to recognized consumer organisations, all science schools and colleges and all district civil supplies and drug controller offices.
