Former West Bengal chief minister and Marxist veteran Jyoti Basu, who is in a nursing home here after a fall at his residence last week, continues to be in a stable condition Saturday, an official said.
'The clinical parameters of Basu are the same. His health condition is stable and he is on normal diet. He slept well Friday night and Saturday noon, and even talked with his visitors for quite some time in the evening,' AMRI Hospitals vice-president S. Upadhyay told reporters Saturday evening.
He further said the attending doctors are continuing to monitor Basu's condition.
A repeat CT Scan of Basu's brain will be carried out Sunday and his condition will be reviewed by the medical board Monday morning.
'We will also decide if the clot in his brain needs to be removed by a minor operation Monday,' Upadhyay said.
Basu, 94, suffered 'internal haemorrhage in the head' after he fell at his Salt Lake home early Sep 5.
The veteran politician underwent a CT scan a day after his fall and was advised hospitalisation. He also received stitches on his forehead.
Basu was the West Bengal chief minister from 1977 to 2000.
