No case of influenza A (H1N1), popularly known as swine flu, has been reported in India till Monday but two passengers have been quarantined for suspected symptoms, health ministry officials said.

'So far samples of 38 passengers, who arrived from flu affected countries, have been tested and found negative for influenza A (H1N1). Samples of two more people have been sent for testing. As of now, no case has been reported in India and the situation is being monitored,' a ministry official said.

Screening of passengers coming from affected countries is continuing in 21 international airports at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Varanasi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Srinagar, Trichy and Trivandrum.

'Till date about 380,000 passengers have been screened. About 185 doctors and 105 paramedics have been deployed at 70 counters at the airports,' the official said.

According to World Health Organization, 4,379 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza A(H1N1) infection have been reported from 29 countries. Forty-nine people have died from the flu across the world.
