Two patients, who tested positive for swine flu, are undergoing treatment at a city hospital here and no fresh cases were reported, an official said Monday.

'The 29-year-old mother and her three-year-old daughter suffering from H1N1 influenza are being treated with dosages of Tamiflu. Though stable, they will be kept in observation for 10-14 days at a special ward set up for swine flu infected victims,' Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases director Shashidhar Buggi told reporters here.

The duo came to Bangalore from New York on an Air-France flight (Number 192) June 13 and were admitted to the hospital after screening and testing positive. Co-passengers who travelled by the same flight or were seated with the affected in the same row did not report to the hospital for tests.

'We have requested the directorate general of health services to set up a quarantine centre in the hospital for treating swine flu infected patients. There is no shortage of medicine for treating the dreaded disease,' Buggi said.

Samples of the mother and daughter's throat swabs have been sent for further tests to the National Institute of Virology at Pune.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Health Commissioner P.N. Srinivasachary said the state was fully prepared to tackle the situation arising out of the swine flu disease.
