Rs.500,000 compensation for Kerala soldiers killed in Kashmir

The families of an army captain and a soldier killed in Kashmir earlier this week would get a compensation of Rs.500,000 each, Kerala Law Minister M. Vijayakumar said here Thursday.

The government has also promised a job to one member each of the families of Captain R. Harshan, 26, and Naik Ratish Kumar, 38, who died while fighting terrorists in Kupwara district.

Besides, the two soldiers will be cremated with full military honours, the minister informed the state assembly.

While Harshan is a bachelor, Kumar is survived by his wife and a son. The bodies of the two soldiers will arrive here Thursday afternoon and the funeral is likely to take place later in the day.
