Witch doctor held for duping childless parents

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 12:06 AM IST

A witch doctor in the capital was arrested for allegedly duping at least 150 childless couples, claiming that he can cure infertility through magical remedies, police said Friday.

Sleuths of Delhi Police's crime branch arrested Mohammed Sajid Hasan Thursday from his office in Madhuban Chowk, northwest Delhi.

According to police, Hasan had claimed through advertisements in local newspapers that he can cure problems like infertility.

'Acting on a tip-off, a decoy customer was sent to Hasan's office, who signalled to the police party after fixing a deal with him,' Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Neeraj Thakur said.

A case under Drugs and Magical Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act has been registered.
