Fearing poor results, a 16-year-old schoolgirl killed herself with her father's licensed revolver here Tuesday.

Tanvi, a Class 11 student of DAV school, Pitampura in west Delhi, committed suicide two days before her end-of-term examination results were to be announced.

'At about 8.30 a.m. Tanvi killed herself by shooting herself in the right temple with her father's revolver at her home in Saraswati Vihar in northwest Delhi,' a police official told IANS.

Tanvi's father and mother were in another room when the incident occurred. No suicide note was recovered.

'Tanvi had taken the extreme step as she was apparently depressed over her results. Investigations are still in progress,' the official added.
