Speeding call centre car kills two in Delhi

In a hit and run case, a speeding SUV, suspected to be a call centre cab, crushed two people to death and seriously injured one in northeast Delhi early Monday, police said.

The car, which was yet to be identified and traced, knocked down Dinesh, 26, Sabir, 28, and Liyakat, 29, while they were changing the punctured tyre of their truck in Shastri Park area of Seelampur at around 5 a.m.

According to the police, the car dragged the injured by a few metres as the driver fled from the scene.

A passerby alerted the police. All the three victims were rushed to the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared Dinesh, a resident of Bihar, and Sabir brought dead.

Liyakat was said to be battling for life.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast Delhi) Jaspal Singh said the car could be on duty with a call centre, but nothing could be ascertained till the driver's arrest.

'Our teams are working to trace the driver and the vehicle,' he said.
