Court asks BSF to frame promotion guidelines

From correspondents in Delhi, India, 10:01 PM IST

The Delhi High Court Tuesday asked the Border Security Force (BSF) to formulate within three months guidelines for the promotions of its personnel.

Harvinder Singh, a head constable with the paramilitary force, approached the court when BSF authorities refused to give him promotion on the sports quota basis.

Singh is a boxer and has won numerous medals representing the BSF.

A division bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul asked the BSF to give him promotion, which was due, and also asked it to formulate guidelines for promotion in future.

The BSF currently does not have any guidelines for promotion of its personnel.
